Diester was synthesized from α - bromo-dodecanoic acid methyl ester and dihydroxybenzene via Williamson synthesis of ether and a series of carboxylate ion gemini surfactants were obtained by saponification . The structures were confirmed by ~ 1H NMR IR and elemental analysis .
